Ivy League school Cornell University was founded in 1865 by Ezra Cornell and Andrew Dickson White, hence its name. While undoubtedly competitive, Cornell has a higher acceptance rate than some other schools in the Ivy League: 10%. However, this is a significant decrease from its 14% acceptance rate in 2016.

Princeton University, part of the Ivy League and located in Princeton, New Jersey, was originally founded as the College of New Jersey in 1746, making it the fourth-oldest institution of higher education in the United States. As such, applicants may submit an ACT or SAT score only if they wish to do so.

MIT: Regular Decision Acceptance Rate

Peterson said MIT placed a “modest number” of applicants on their waitlist. According to past data, between 10-35 students get off the waitlist each year, primarily because MIT has a high yield rate — around 85% of admitted students joined the Class of 2027. Last year, 32 of 619 waitlisted students were admitted, or 5.2%.
