Here are highlights of the trends from last year’s admissions cycle to guide out-of-state students applying to the University of California schools (UCs). UCs with Increased Out-of-State Admissions UC Irvine had a substantial rise in admissions for out-of-state students, climbing from 37% to 47%. Federal prosecutors charged more than two dozen people in January over a fake diploma scheme in South Florida. Three local schools reportedly distributed 7,600 fake diplomas in nursing. Many of the Florida nurses with fake diplomas lost their nursing licenses due to the revelation that their degrees were fraudulent. Five defendants in a fake nursing degree scheme pleaded guilty in federal court Friday.

Federal Judge: Canceled West Texas A&M Drag Show Doesn’t Violate First Amendment

U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk ruled that WTAMU President Walter Wendler has qualified immunity against a suit filed by students over a canceled campus drag show. In March, Wendler canceled the student-organized drag event for charity in an email that cited his personal beliefs about the performances.
