Your time will be split between studying, volunteering, and clinical exposure. Duke offers many opportunities—with hundreds of student groups, study-abroad programs, clinical shadowing, and domestic and international volunteer experiences available, students often feel overwhelmed by the prospect of being a Duke premed student.
You must mail in or upload your college transcripts from all hours earned or attempted from all colleges or studyabroad programs. If you claim APcredit at your current institution, and it shows up on your transcript, those credits will count toward the twenty-four-hour minimum requirement but not your GPA.
What studyabroad programs are available? What is the school’s policy on APcredits? What is the availability of study groups? What is the availability of studyabroad advisors? What is the academic calendar like? Are there opportunities for undergraduate research?
For instance, if you scored a 4 or a 5 on the AP Bio exam, you can likely bypass an introductory Biology course in college. Office of International and Summer Programs - These programs provide students with the chance to studyabroad. However, if you’re a premed student, you’ll still need to take two semesters of Biology.
Some medical schools recommend calculus, and since it is a prerequisite for PHY 113/L and 114/L, or PHY 123/L and 124/L, you should plan to take it if you do not have APcredit for it. We also assume they will not studyabroad. It awards up to $6,000 to cover travel and living expenses for awardees.

APcredits at NYU While you’ll likely be able to count several of your AP classes toward your degree, many medical schools won’t accept credits from AP science classes.
