These classes can be intimidating because they often require a significant amount of effort and have a big test in the middle of the spring semester. AP classes can play a large role in college admissions, which incentivizes students’ enrollment, even if they don’t feel ready for college-level coursework.

If you took Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) courses in high school, you may have a jump start on your college career with some introductory course credits earned through the program. A pre-medicine advisor will help you map out each semester, which canmake the scheduling process much less stressful.
As a warning, students should be careful when using APcredits to place ahead of introductory courses. The content taught in these AP courses may not always match perfectly with the material that is taught in the equivalent Hopkins courses, information which may be needed down the road for exams such as the MCAT.
Most medical schools do not accept English APcredit (except for some UC medical schools), but if you place out of R&C courses, you can use courses in these departments to fulfill this requirement.
