Peterson said MIT placed a “modest number” of applicants on their waitlist. According to past data, between 10-35 students get off the waitlist each year, primarily because MIT has a high yield rate — around 85% of admitted students joined the Class of 2027. Last year, 32 of 619 waitlisted students were admitted, or 5.2%.

Tulane’s Gibson Hall Tulane University has offered admission to roughly 4,000 students for its Class of 2027. last year), a 1473 on the SAT, and/or nearly a 33 on the ACT. By May 1, Tulane predicts fewer than 2,000 students will be holding a space on its waitlist, and it is premature to predict how many will be admitted.

Decisions for transfer students have not yet been released and waitlist decisions will be released once admitted students accept or decline their offers. I imagine we will see a rise in students signing up for additional ACT and SAT tests to boost scores. in the Class of 2027 and 12.6% in the Class of 2026.

Recently, peer institutions like Dartmouth College , Yale University , Brown University and Cornell University announced a return to requiring SAT or ACT scores. Harvard University also backtracked from its two-year test-optional commitment when it announced it would require standardized test scores , effective for the Class of 2029.
