You need a solid strategy, and likely part of that plan will be applying through their Single-Choice Early Action option. What is Single-Choice Early Action? Often also called Restrictive Early Action (REA), Single-Choice Early Action is a non-binding path to early admission. This is very low.

Stanford typically admits around 25% of its incoming freshman class through early action, which is significantly less than some of its peer institutions.

When more students apply early, you’re also likely to be deferred from at least one college. Very selective colleges defer as many as 70-80% of early applicants.

In exchange for making a commitment to Dartmouth early, they give early decision applicants extra consideration. Ultimately, the ED acceptance rate is higher than the RD acceptance rate, which leads some to feel like its possible for a weak Dartmouth candidate to get in if only they apply early.

Brown offers first-year applicants Regular Decision and Early Decision application options. The overall acceptance rate for the Class of 2029 was 5.7%. The Early Decision acceptance rate, however, was triple that at just under 18% in 2024. We love early admissions options, but they arent for everyone or every situation.
