Schools that offer binding early decision plans will typically have a higher acceptance rate ED and a lower acceptance rate RD, so the “average” rate ends up somewhere in the middle, but applicants are not actually accepted at that rate. In other words, they are not necessarily representative of what occurs in any given round.
