Rhode Island Scholarships

Important Note: The purpose of this detailed listing is to help you plan your scholarship search throughout the year. Please find information below about scholarships for Rhode Island students. Some of the deadlines may be from prior years. Scholarship deadlines are cyclical, so even if a deadline has passed, the website will likely be updated for the 2023-24 cycle. Be sure to reach out to the sponsor or check sponsor websites for the most recent details.

January

February

Offers a varied amount to graduate students as well as undergraduates who have completed at least 1 year of study. This application is due February 1st. Learn more here.

 

Offers a varied amount to  U.S. citizens and legal residents of Rhode Island, must demonstrate an interest in accounting during their undergraduate/graduate years, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. This application is due February 24th. Learn more here.



March

Offers $1,500 to a high school senior or enrolled college student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, pursuing their college education in a school located in the United States; and, not having been awarded the IMHNE CHD Scholarship in the last two years. This application is due March 26th. Learn more here.

 

Offers $2,500 to a student inspired by creativity, dedication to their art, and academic excellence. The foundation provides $2500 to a graduating high school dancer accepted to College or University. Due March 26th.  Website Here.

 

Offers up to $10,000 to a full-time student pursuing their college education, be a US citizen or permanent resident, be Pell Grant-eligible, and be a diverse candidate or be from an underserved community. This application is due March 27th.  Website here.



Offers $1,000 to students who have a physical disability, such as a neuromuscular disorders or musculoskeletal impairments such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, SMA, dystonia, osteogenesis imperfecta, spinal cord injury, or amputee and must be a resident of MA, NH, ME, or RI. Applicants must be a high school graduate/graduating senior. This application is due March 30th. Learn more here.

Offers $5,000 to a student who must demonstrate financial need, live in Hearthstone Housing Foundation property or in a county where a Hearthstone property is located. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required for high school students and a minimum 2.75 GPA is required for current college students. This application is due March 31st  Learn more here.

 

Scholarship offers $2,000 to students interested in transportation and community; technology; and social connectivity. This application is due March 31st. Learn more here.

 

April

Offers $5,000 to women of at least age 19 with a high school diploma or GED, be a resident of Washington County, RI, demonstrate financial need, and be enrolled, or accepted, in an accredited educational program and working toward a first degree (associate or bachelor’s) or in a career/vocational training or certificate program. Offers $3,000 to part-time or full-time undergraduate students and graduate students studying in an accredited academic program residing either in New England or enrolled in an institution in New England who demonstrate an interest in a career in the employee benefits field. This application is due April 1st. Website here.

 

Offers a varied amount to a student who has proven a commitment to academics, community service and extracurricular activities. Applicants must be females who reside in or plan to attend school in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, or Maine and are currently enrolled or planning to enroll, as a student of an undergraduate or graduate program. Offers $2,000 to students who are low-income single parents and who are Rhode Island residents. Preference is given to parents currently or previously receiving state aid or those who have been previously incarcerated. This application is due April 10th. Learn more here.



 

Offers up to $500 to a high school graduate from a RI High School who participates in Extracurricular Activities and Community Service. This application is due April 15th.  Learn more here.



May

Offers a varied amount to ice sports participants and recreational ice skaters that demonstrate personal excellence on and off the ice. The scholarships are awarded to ice hockey, figure skating and recreational skaters. All applicants must be New England residents, high school seniors, and skate at FMC arenas.This application is due May 1st.  More information here.

 

Offers $500 to graduating high school seniors enrolling in or students entering their second year at either the University of Rhode Island or Roger Williams University who are studying marine science or fisheries. This application is due May 5th. More information here.

 

Offers $1,500 to a student enrolled in a STEM field at an accredited college or university located in the U.S. and must be entering their third year of study in the academic year of the award. The student may be transitioning from institutions with a two-year program into another with a four-year program of study. The student must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Southeastern New England. This application is due May 1st. More information here.

 

Offers $3,000-$17,000 to students with financial need who display academic achievement, a commitment to serving others (in school, in the community or at home), a strong work ethic, and leadership qualities. This application is due May 1st. Learn more here.



June

Offers a varied amount to high school seniors who participate in the NOSB at least once during their high school career, have a career goal in the ocean sciences or a marine-related field, and demonstrate academic success and integrity. This application is due June 2nd. Website here

 

July

August

Varies based on different majors in the arts annually, rotating for composers, writers and artists. The website mentions which major gets the annual award. The deadline is August 27th. Website Here

 

September

Requirements are needed to be in the field related to water works and needs to be a part of the NEWWA. Deadline is September 1st. Website Here.

October

Offers $2,500 to veterinary students in their third year, to be applied to their fourth year. Applicants must be a graduate of a Rhode Island high school or have earned an equivalent in RI and have a grade point average of at least 2.5. This application is due October 15th. Website here.

November

December

Requirements are having a GPA of a 3.0, students must be pursuing a bachelor of science or engineering and the school must have an ASHRAE branch. Due December 1st. Website Here

 

Deadlines Vary

  • offers a varied amount to students  who are eligible for the RSP Tuition Break when they enroll in an approved major or program. Website here.

 

Offers $10,000 to a student who must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher (in high school, but must maintain a 2.5 GPA+ in school). Must be from Florida, Wisconsin or the New England Area to apply (one student in each state will be chosen). All students receiving scholarships from The Sweet Feet Foundation are required to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and are required to do so on an annual basis. Offers $10,000 to a student who must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher (in high school, but must maintain a 2.5 GPA+ in school). Offers a varied amount to students who submit a complete application for freshman admission by either the Early Action (November 1) or Regular (January 1) application deadlines. Recipients must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Learn more here.

 

Students applying to the University of Alabama (out of state) can have the chance to win scholarships to the University of Alabama just through regular admission. Due November 1st for Spring Semester and due January 15th for Summer Semester  Website here.

This scholarship was designed to honor the founders for TCIF, and to give students a chance for a $1000 scholarship. Some requirements are being under 21, needing to be a certain height (depending on gender); and must be enrolled in the year as the scholarship. Website here.

This scholarship gives students the chance to express what they would do if they wanted to improve Rhode Island communities with people of color. Students have a choice of submitting a 1,000 word essay or a 3-minute video with the chance to win a scholarship. Website Here.
