Scoir Expands Through Cristo Rey Network Partnership, Leaders in College and Career Readiness for Underserved Students

Scoir Expands Through Cristo Rey Network Partnership, Leaders in College and Career Readiness for Underserved Students

WEST CHESTER, Mar. 27, 2024 – The Cristo Rey Network, one of America's most renowned high school networks enrolling historically underserved students, has joined the Scoir Network.

The Cristo Rey Network’s Catholic college preparatory schools enroll 12,300+ students nationwide, exclusively serving students whose gross family income is 250% of the federal poverty threshold or below. 98% of their students identify as students of color and, on average, 75% of students are first-generation college-bound, identities that are typically underrepresented at secondary education institutions.

The Cristo Rey Network is eager to utilize Scoir to help guide their students through college and career readiness. Through Scoir, Cristo Rey students and their families can now conduct college and career exploration at home, along with guidance from their counselor.

As partners, Scoir and the Cristo Rey Network embrace that education is changing. Among those changes are the enrollment cliff, more students pursuing careers immediately after high school, and a greater expectation of detailed personalization and support for students. Scoir and the Cristo Rey Network are leading the charge as we enter this new era of education where true connections and an emphasis on career readiness are more important than ever as we support underserved students.

Scoir expands college and career access and improves student outcomes by connecting students, supporters, high schools, and colleges on a Network for a better post-high school experience. Scoir’s partnership with the Cristo Rey Network embodies this mission.

What This Means for Cristo Rey Students

Working together, Scoir and the Cristo Rey Network bring college and career readiness to the next level.

The Cristo Rey Network is already setting the precedent on how to prepare students for their post-high school plans. The Cristo Rey Network runs a Corporate Work Study program, where students work at a professional job site 5 full days each month throughout their high school career while receiving top-notch college preparatory academic instruction.

With Scoir, students can conduct more self-exploration and determine where their unique talents and skills may fit into a career. Scoir provides students and counselors with the structure and support they need to navigate post-high school plans while allowing students the free reign to do their own exploration and preparation through a PrinciplesYou assessment, career comparison and discovery tools, and university, tech, and trade school search.

Together, Scoir and the Cristo Rey Network provide students with a powerful combination of job and academic experiences, plus knowledge and guidance to advance in their education and career.

Any student, parent, or guardian can sign up to access Scoir for free, even if their high school does not use Scoir.

What This Means for Cristo Rey Counselors

With Scoir for high schools, Cristo Rey counselors will now save precious hours throughout the college and career exploration journey, from manual tasks like document sending, to supporting students with college applications, to student and guardian communications, to career readiness. That way, counselors can spend more one-on-one time with their students, and students can spend more time building the skills they need to be successful in their post-high school plans.

With comprehensive college search tools like a college list builder, Scattergrams, a College Match Quiz, and a financial aid calculator, Cristo Rey students looking to go to college after high school can complete their entire college search journey in Scoir–and even apply to colleges right in Scoir with seamless fee waivers.

“I am thrilled to announce our partnership with Scoir in support of our network’s college exploration and application efforts. Scoir's innovative platform empowers our students to navigate the complex landscape of higher education with confidence and clarity, ensuring they find the best-fit institutions to achieve their academic and personal aspirations." - Stephanie Arias, Vice President of College Initiatives, Cristo Rey Network

What This Means for College Admissions

Scoir college partners can now reach Cristo Rey Network students through the Scoir Network using Student and Parent Messaging (including Message Your Matches) and Premium Presence. Instead of casting a wide net through mass email communications, colleges can reach talented students of diverse ethnic and racial identities who are already interested in their institution.

Universities, tech, and trade schools in Scoir will soon be able to reach thousands of Cristo Rey Network students across the country who already have work experience and are eager to enter their career of choice.

“As a first-generation college student myself, the guidance I received as a teen and young adult regarding career and college changed my life. Scoir is doing important work to support how students and counselors approach post-high school planning and how colleges approach connecting with students. Our partnership with the Cristo Rey Network is a great example of how we’re building bridges between these groups.” - Gerry McCrory, CEO and Founder of Scoir

Scoir’s partnership with the Cristo Rey Network exemplifies our commitment to expanding college and career access and positive outcomes for all parties involved—college admissions staff, counselors, students, and families. We are excited to support over 1.6 million students and parents/guardians, regardless of their path after high school.
