Spoiler alert : a growing number of applicants led to ever-lower early admit rates at many of the nation's top colleges and universities.
UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA (UGA) The University of Georgia more than doubled its early action pool of applicants in the last decade and increased in size by 21% in just the last year. For the class of 2023, UGA accepted 32% (or 8,253 of 26,001) of early applicants and deferred a whopping 44%. for in-state applicants and 25.8%
As a result, more and more students are applying under Early Decision and Early Action admissions plans. While earlyadmissions plans often have higher acceptance rates than regular decision, the continuing rise in applicants (and early applicants), means these early rounds are growing more competitive as well.
Although there are general deadlines for each type of application—early action in the fall, regular decision in the winter—identify the specific deadline for each institution. Whether applying for early action or early decision, aim to have materials ready by November 1st for early and for regular by January 1st.
